  • 6 medium Russet potatoes Peeled and sliced
For the Cream Mixture
  • 2 cups Heavy cream Rich and velvety
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme Or dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
For the Cheese Layer
  • 2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese Grated

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your baking dish.
  2. Peel the russet potatoes and slice them thinly—about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and half of the grated sharp cheddar cheese until smooth.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased dish. Pour half of the creamy mixture over this first layer, then repeat with the remaining potatoes and cream mixture.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. After 45 minutes, remove the foil, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let the dish rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
